The district
administration and city government will launch the second phase of the
anti-encroachment drive along Mehmoodabad nullah on Sunday.
The
District East Deputy Commissioner Office has requested security and equipment
for the drive in Gulistan-e-Zafar, which is located near Masjid-e-Roomi on
Shahrae Faisal.
The district administration has taken the Sindh Rangers, police, and other civic organisations on board for the drive.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has started constructing road on either side of the Mehmoodabad nullah in Karachi. The stormwater drain has been cleared of all encroachments and the work to widen it is underway. The KMC Works & Services Department in coordination with the Sindh government and district administration is widening the Mehmoodabad nullah. The KMC will ensure cleaning of the stormwater drain before the monsoon season so that people could not face difficulties during the rains, Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said. An operation for the removal of encroachments from along the Mehmoodabad Nullah in Manzoor Colony continued on the third consecutive day on Wednesday.
Another 5.5-kilometre area of the storm water drain from the Manzoor Colony Fire Station to Korangi will be widened with the help of heavy machinery in the coming days, according to a statement issued by the Karachi Municipal Corporation.
Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed visited Mehmoodabad Nullah in Manzoor Colony on Wednesday. He accompanied by Metropolitan Commissioner Afzal Zaidi and other officials. The administrator reviewed the anti-encroachment operation and passed directives to the officials on ground.
