College booked for violating COVID-19 norms in Karnataka

Mangaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 30 (ANI): The Mangaluru Rural Police on Thursday registered a case against the management of Expert Pre University College in Karnataka's Valachil, under Epidemic Diseases Act for allegedly violating COVID-19 norms amid the imposition of a lockdown in order to flatten the curve of the new surge in COVID-19 cases.

Expert Pre University College booked Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The Mangaluru Rural Police on Thursday registered a case against the management of Expert Pre University College, Valachil, under the Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act on the charge of holding classes and other academic activities on campus. The college has also been accused of being responsible for some parents holding a protest outside its campus during the lockdown on Thursday for not sending students back home. But the college has denied both the charge. More than 30 parents from Dharwad, Vijayapura, Tarikere and other parts of the State came to the institution on Thursday morning asking the management to send their children back home along with them.

Police take Sharan into custody Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The police have taken into custody Akash Bhavan Sharan, said to be an associate of underworld operative Vikki Shetty, in connection with two motor vehicle theft cases and a plan to murder two associates of another such operative Ravi Poojary. Talking to reporters here on Friday, Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar said that nine associates of Sharan were arrested in connection with the theft of two motorcycles in Kankanady and Mangaluru Rural Police limits earlier. Sharan, who was lodged in the Central Prison in Bengaluru, is said to have hatched a plan to use these vehicles to murder Pradeep Mendon, Vijay Manki Stand and Kodikere Manoj.

Eight members of TB gang arrested Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The Central Crime Branch and the Mangaluru Rural Police have arrested eight accused involved in murder, dacoity, assault and extortion cases registered in the city, Udupi and Bengaluru police limits. Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar gave the names of the accused as Tauseer (29) of Marnamikatte, Tasleem (27) of Farangipet, Mohammed Jainuddin (24) of Bantwal, Mohammed Arafat (29) of Farangipet, Nasir Hussain (29), Mohammed Rafiq (37), Unnaiz (26) and Mohammed Safan (25), all four from Bantwal. Mr. Kumar told reporters here on Monday that these accused were members of a gang run by Tauseer and Bathish, who is now in Saudi Arabia. This was called the TB (Tauseer Bathish) Gang. They were mainly involved in extortion and money recovery cases. They were also accused in murder, attempt to murder and cattle theft cases.
