With an aim to increase passenger safety in the country, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has decided to make dual front airbags mandatory in cars from this year. MoRTH, in this regard, issued a notification stating that all new models sold in India from 1 April 2021 will come equipped with driver and co-driver (front passenger) airbags as standard. And as for all the existing models, they will have to comply with this norm from 31 August 2021. It must be noted that so far only driver-side airbag was compulsory in all cars in the country. The
