Microsoft Defender, among several other popular AV products, can hog your system under certain situations, though they, including Defender, do a good job as a malware hunter, most of the time.
Microsoft Defender did really well in a Windows web malware test last time. This time around though, its performance was not the best. Other solutions like Kaspersky performed even worse.
AV-Comparatives recently released its Real-World Protection test for web threats where Microsoft Defender did quite well. In the following Malware Protection test too, Defender has shown improvement.
