A Grand Bay-Westfield woman is giving back after winning a national contest focused on Canadian healthcare workers in the pandemic.
Maggie Coffin Prowse found out about the contest with HealthPRO through her brother, Mark.
Coffin Prowse learned a lot about art from her mom but, it took the pandemic to pick it all up again.
“It was a way to transition from work to family where I work in my own home. It was a great way to sort of parcel off what happened through the day and move into being with my husband and kids,” Coffin Prowse said. ....

Local Painting In Running To Win $25,000 Contest Prize

Grand Bay-Westfield lawyer Maggie Coffin Prowse’s painting “I see you” is one example of art submitted in HealthPro Canada’s #FacesofCanadianHealthcare artwork contest celebrating Canada’s health professionals.
“My brother Mark Coffin found the contest and he sent it to me,” said Prowse. “I had just finished a piece where I put a mask on – I don’t know what prompted me to do it, but I did and then he said, ‘You need to enter something into this contest!’”
People can vote for their favourite artwork on the contest website until May 31. The winner will be announced in June and be awarded $25,000 to be donated to a healthcare facility of their choice. ....
