BACOLOD CITY: All 23 barangay (villages) of EB Magalona in Negros Occidental are now drug-cleared following the declaration of the remaining two barangay as drug-free by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office (PDEA-6) on Thursday.

+ May 16, 2021 SEVERAL cops from the EB Magalona Municipal Police Station are in hot water after they were reportedly caught sleeping while on duty during a surprise inspection carried out by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) Western Visayas Director lawyer Joseph Celis.
According to Celis, he arrived around 11:03 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2021, at the police station and discovered there was no desk officer or sentinel available.
February 14, 2021 THE P150-million Saravia Mall is nearing completion and may be turned over this year to the municipal government of EB Magalona.
EB Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon said the two-story Saravia Mall will have more than 100 commercial spaces, with the second floor being allocated for a pension house, offices of various national government agencies and a function area for big events.
The owners of existing market stalls will be given priority in the occupation of new commercial spaces available at the mall, with remaining spaces to be awarded to interested parties, through bidding, he added.
Malacon also revealed that a bio-fuel company expressed its intention to put offices at the Saravia Mall, while McDonald s set up its food stall in front of the market.

+ January 15, 2021 The municipality of E.B. Magalona declared a state of calamity, following recent flashfloods that hit eight cities and towns of northern Negros Occidental.
Mayor Marvin Malacon on Thursday said that the declaration of state of calamity was made on Monday by the Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Council on Jan. 12, which was also adopted by the Sangguniang Bayan the next day during its regular session.
E.B. Magalona joined cities of Silay, Talisay and Victorias on the list of areas placed under a state of calamity due to floods that damaged crops and fisheries, with a damage of almost P50 million, excluding those destroyed several infrastructure projects .
