It is nearly time to dust off the frocks and suits with one last chance to secure tickets to one of the biggest events on Mackayâs social calendar.
The 2021 Mackay Mayorâs Charity Ball â postponed last year because of COVID â will be a Moulin Rouge-themed night of fun raising money for HeartKids and Mackayâs Domestic Violence Resource Scheme.
Initial tickets sold out quickly but Mayor Greg Williamson said the council had now released additional limited seats.
âWeâve sold about 360 tickets â five tables more than 2019 â which at the time was the record attendance,â Cr Williamson said.

Following sold-out performances in London’s West End and at the Sydney Opera House, Tap Pack is heading to Queensland after last year’s COVID hiccup.
The tap dance sensation will begin with a season at Queensland Performing Arts Centre from April 18-24 and then head to regional Queensland and NSW.
Tap Pack producer Kym Halpin said 2020 had tested all the team but “the guys are so excited to be getting back on stage together”.
“The arts and entertainment industry has been pushed to the brink but we have held on because ultimately we love what we do and we know you do too,” she said.
Arts Minister Leanne Enoch said the show was a fantastic win for Queensland.
“The arts, cultural and creative sector plays a crucial role in our COVID-19 recovery, bringing our communities back together and supporting jobs for artists and arts workers.”

Mackay Festival of Arts. After being forced into radio silence last year, the MECC s 2021 calendar is bursting with awesome acts to keep us entertained. MECC manager Andrew Bobeldyk said he was terribly excited about the line-up at the MECC this year after COVID ruined the 2020 calendar. I m glad borders have been reopening, he said. We re hopeful things will continue to stay open while they work through the pandemic. The team is excited to be back at full swing again. And we re excited to use the facilities we upgraded when we didn t have a lot on. We re really rapt the MECC is back and doing our best to secure the best entertainment possible.
