Nature conservation authority Natuurmonumenten wants financial compensation from the organizers of the NK Wielrennen and the municipalities of Arnhem, Rheden and Rozendaal for the use of their nature reserve during the cycling race on June 23. The nature conservation authority wants to use this money for the structural improvement of nature in the Veluwezoom National Park.
The new Intercity trains being used by national railway NS began running test drives with passengers between The Hague and Eindhoven on Monday. The so-called Intercity New Generation (ICNG) stops en route at The Hague Holland Spoor, Delft, Rotterdam Central, Breda and Tilburg stations, and partly runs on the high-speed line. The new train has been tested between Amsterdam Central and Rotterdam Central since mid-April.

The rail company called it a dress rehearsal for the Intercity New Generation (ICNG), describing it as the “train of the future.” The trains have a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour, which is only achievable on the High-Speed Line which has the capability of connecting Schiphol, Rotterdam, Breda and the Belgian border. On the main rail network, the ICNG trains will run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
