we re learning more about that particular flight that occurred yesterday. it s commonly referred to as a check flight. the owner of the aircraft was aboard he is a qualified pilot and qualified pilot at the time and faa designated flight instructor. it s a routine event that went terribly wrong for some reason at 1:30 afternoon. me and my daughter were driving down 202. we saw flames up behindment the retirement complex. reporter: it was not a building fire, instead it was a cherokee piper plane that crashed. police along with investigators were back at the crash site. the question for the experts why did the roughly one ton single engine plane with two qualified pilots aboard fly and fall from the sky. making their job more difficult the fire may have destroyed evidence that could help investigators to learn what went wrong. the plane departed on the check flight from the nearby brandywine airport and turned south when one witness told investigators he heard what sound
