Our Correspondent Kohima, Aug. 25 (EMN): The ‘Anglo-Phom dictionary’ published by the department of Art and Culture was released by M Shayung Phom, additional secretary of Home and member of Phom Literature Board, in Kohima on Thursday. The dictionary is a collection of works by scholars, language experts, and the efforts of the Art and Culture’s department to document the language of the Phom community from a linguistic perspective. “Much care has been made to ensure that the words in the dictionary are closest and truest to their English equivalent,” the book stated in its summary. It expressed hope to serve the curiosities and requirements of the Phom speakers, non-Phom speakers as well as students and scholars engaged in the research. It also believed that the efforts would only be a stepping stone in the documentation and development of the Phom language and literature for future generations to work, build, and rebuild on those foundations. Dimapur, June 9 (EMN): Chairman of Longleng district planning and development board (DPDB) and MLA, BS Nganlang Phom, has lauded the chief medical officer (CMO) of Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla, on being conferred the Phom Day Award 2022 by the Nagaland Governor, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, in recognition of her humanitarian service towards the people of the district. Dimapur, May 28 (EMN): Ahead of the Prime Minister’s interaction with beneficiaries of various schemes/programmes of government of India, the district administrations of Chumoukedima, Zunheboto and Longleng held a review meeting with the head of offices and departments on May 27. An update from DIPR informed that Deputy Commissioner, Chumoukedima, Abhinav Shivam, had a brief meeting with the departments implementing various welfare schemes under Chumoukedima at DC’s Conference Hall, wherein he requested all the concerned departments to list out the beneficiaries and submit it to SDO (C), latest by May 29.
