you but out of the congress business for a couple of years what is your take on the evolution of congress from your perch out there in washington state? i have to say congress is not what it used to be i started covering congress in 1974 and it was pretty continual in america is on a nice edge of political parity and it s also a huge goal separating two very large significant fashions of american politics and if you put those things together you will get a lot of turmoil and a lot of nasty politics and that s what we re experiencing today. why do you think that change? i think a lot of it has to do with the nature of the issues, i think if you look at american history you will find in politics were always the most intense throughout our time throughout her history when the issues facing america are definitional and in nature of america who we are, where were going, what is our connection to our past, our heritage, all those kinds of things and whether we knew it or not
