A junior at Eastchester High, Gutierrez placed 2nd in the 200 free (1:48.50) and 3rd in the 500 free (4:52.57) at November's NYSPHSAA Girls Championship.
The aptly-named Julia Bak dropped more than a second in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 56.42, jumping up to 19th in the 11-12 girls NAG rankings.
