Thats not in the constitutional text. I am amused when i hear people who claim to be strict interpreters of the constitution ddenly reading into a whole series of provisions that are not there. There is more than enough time for the senate to consider in a thoughtful way the record of a nominee that i present and to make a decision. With respect to our process, we are going to do the same thing that we did with respect to somebody with an outstanding legal mind, somebody who cares about our democracy and cares about rule of law. There is not going to be any particular position on a particular issue that determines whether or not i nominate them. But i am going to present somebody who eisenhower disputably is qualified for the seat and even somebody who disagrees with my politics would say would serve with honor
