Montrose Botanical Society volunteers were hard at work the past few months, wrapping trees and an array of displays with decorative lights to prepare for the annual Garden of Lights event at the Montrose Botanical Gardens. Although the community wonât be able to take a tour through the garden with in-person walkthroughs nixed (for now) due to effects from the pandemic, eager residents can still check out the lights throughout the week. The event, which started yesterday, will light up every night from Dec. 18-26 from 5 to 9 p.m., except on Christmas Eve, when the lights will be left on throughout the night. Those passing by on Pavilion Drive will be able to see the lights set on the east side of the garden. ....
Due to the effects from the pandemic, the festive Garden of Lights tradition in Montrose is being tweaked, at least for December. With cases rising and the county still in orange (high risk) on the stateâs dial dashboard, the walk through the garden has been canceled. âSee you next year! The Gardens appreciate everyoneâs support and understanding as we get through these unprecedented times,â the organization said in a Facebook update. However, residents interested in catching the bright displays arenât out of luck. Montrose Botanical Society volunteers have been hard at work lately to place displays throughout the garden, so from Dec. 18 through Dec. 26, locals can drive on Pavilion Drive (next to the Pavilion) and catch a glimpse of the lights with a slow drive-by. ....
