Students inspire Dads and Little Dudes, Princesses program Ronda Wertman Special to the News Tribune KEYSER - Program founder T.J. Coleman recently called students Zavon Evans and Haiden Fitzpatrick an inspiration, thanking them for helping to spark what has become known as the Dads and Little Dudes and Princesses program. “We today need to place as many young people in the light so they can shine,” Coleman said of the philosophy behind the recognition “Zavon Evans and Haiden Fitzpatrick, thank you both for being an inspiration to me,” said Coleman, who also founded the Aubrey Stewart Project. “One day, when you are grown, you will see the children in our program and remember that you were the spark that started it all,” he said.

Carlie Del Signore is Katharine Church Award winner at Keyser High School

Liz Beavers Tribune Managing Editor KEYSER - Noting that Katharine Church “left a legacy for all of us to follow,” Carlie Del Signore expressed her appreciation Thursday evening for being named the 30th recipient of the Keyser Rotary Club’s Katharine Church Award. “She served the Lord through her musical talents …  Because of her desire to help others, we are able to honor her legacy tonight,” she said. Del Signore, the daughter of Tony and Marie Del Signore, was nominated for the honor along with Virginia “Gini” Breedlove, daughter of Rel and Kara Breedlove, and Sierra Hester, daughter of Monte and Shelly Leatherman.

Keyser, Frankfort seniors honored for achievement

Mineral Daily News-Tribune KEYSER - Twenty-four Mineral County seniors who have distinguished themselves in their academic careers were honored this week for their achievements. The annual Achievement Awards, billed as “a salute to excellence in education,” highlight the top graduating seniors at Keyser and Frankfort  who rank among the top 5% of their class or have achieved in an outstanding manner in other areas, such as leadership in school or community. The students also have exhibited positive character traits, and represented their schools well. “To graduate with honors is a great achievement, to do so during a global pandemic is remarkable,’ superintendent Troy Ravenscroft said during the awards dinner Monday.
