(WHBL) – If your stereotype image of a farmer is a man in a cap and overalls, then that ought to change now that Lakeshore Technical College has enrolled its first all-female class in its Dairy Herd Management Program. That milestone was reached 47 years after the program s inception in 1973.
The class of seven women began their coursework together in August and plans to graduate with their technical diplomas in May of next year. Most plan to continue their education at LTC in the fall, pursuing an Associate Degree in Agribusiness Science and Technology. All of the women currently work on farms, and two live on family farms.
