this growing crisis, it has become clear that we have a long way to go, and we need to make sure that we are tracking our progress every step of the way. when we held a hearing on senior housing earlier this year, we heard from countless seniors about their challenges for staying in housing or getting eligible for new projects. by 2030, 26% of the population will be seniors. while many seniors are getting into our senior funded housing units, we learned that only 12% of our current pipeline is designated for affordable senior housing. we also see similar challenges for people with disabilities who are often also on fixed incomes and often ineligible for affordable housing units because they are extremely low-income. this legislation will task the department of ageing and adult services as well as the mayor s office of housing to jointly work together to provide a comprehensive needs assessment of seniors and people with disabilities in san francisco. we will also be requestin
