Police investigators in 2016 failed to collect a bag of bloody clothes after a fatal stabbing at a North Carolina prison, and that triggered a chain of events that likely will lead to the dismissal of charges and freedom for the prisoner who was charged with murdering his fellow inmate.
That’s the upshot of a ruling issued this month by the N.C. Court of Appeals regarding the murder case against Marques Darnell Grays of Greensboro. Grays is accused of killing Joleski Kwame Floyd of Duplin County.
