For the last few months commentators have been calling this a big moment for the Democratic Party. And they are right. I believe this is an even bigger moment for the American People, a bigger moment for our country. For practically my entire lifetime and maybe yours we have heard politicians at events like this talking about how we are on the cusp of a technological revolution, one that will forever alter the way we work, the way we learn, the way that we communicate, flying cars, solar energy, robots that will make us breakfast. Building bombers on the assembly line, today theyre building rail cars, improving traffic and creating jobs where they live. Thats just the start. We passed the nations largest housing initiative. We have the highest graduation rate. Thank you, i know have the distinct honor welcoming to the stage someone who has always stayed true to his ideas and values and learned to adapt to a changed political landscape. But the American People increasingly are refusing to sit idly by. They are reacting, they are responding, and yes, they are resisting. [applause] so this afternoon, we want to talk about the energy out there and how that energy is actually affecting policy in washington and across the country. Were going to talk about climate action. Were going to talk about public lands. Voting rights, and civil rights. Some of the to meet resistance leaders who all across this country are organizing to defeat the trump agenda. Prosperity was kind enough in the weeks before i came to actually bombard the telephones, fill the mailboxes, talking about the fact that i was going to come up and visit. I have no doubt that a whole heck of a lot of you dont know what its like to have afp go after you but its a fairly common occurrence in a place like montana. I showed up anyway. By the end of the meeting, they acknowledged that 40 of the people that walked through the hospital doors didnt have health insurance. They recognize if they lost that rural hospital, that community was soon to follow. They saw past the rhetoric and understood that not only could expansion improve the health of the friends and neighbors. But at the endst day, it would save that rural hospital which also saves that rural community. Their support and then that visit gave their local republican legislator the confidence to defy her party leadership. To defy the coke brothers and actually support the measure and every vote matters. Every single
