A hearing, on May 17, 2024, on petitions filed to stop a recent zoning change in the rural community of Fraziers Bottom in Putnam County, West Virginia and the motions to dismiss them ended with no ruling from the judge.
The arguments during the hearing revolved around the Putnam County Planning Commission s recommendation and the Putnam County Commission approval to rezone a 36-acre tract of land to C-2 for heavy industrial use for a proposed 123,940 square foot distribution warehouse facility.
In January 2024, the Putnam County Commission signed an order to rezone a 36-acre tract of land along Route 817 from C1 Suburban Commercial District to C2 High-Density Commercial District, which was originally approved during the Dec. 28, 2023 commission meeting. Concerns from locals in and around Fraziers Bottom have continued to voice their concerns, including at a commission meeting on Feb. 27, 2024.
