Eiko (Miichan) Ihara Taylor, age 88, passed away peacefully on Nov. 21 due to Alzheimer’s disease. She was born and raised in Osaka, Japan, along with two brothers and two sisters.
Miichan came to Davis in 1953 after marrying Everett Williams (Bill) Jameson Jr., in Kyoto. Bill was in Kyoto on an assignment for the U.S. government and Miichan was working in Kyoto.
Together Miichan and Bill bought a lot in what is now known as Old Willowbank, sickled and leveled the land, and made and laid 60-pound bricks to build the “mud pile,” a beautiful adobe inspired home, in which she raised their daughters. Miichan made friends easily and was invited to play bridge with the local ladies’ bridge club and their friendships lasted longer than some of their marriages. ....
