Rochester pays more for Frisbie Memorial Hospital ambulance service

ROCHESTER Frisbie Memorial Hospital will continue to provide ambulance and emergency medical services for the city, thanks to a two-year deal the city has struck with the hospital’s new for-profit parent company. The deal, which gives the city one-year renewals options for each of the following five years, will cost Rochester $692,247 a year, or roughly $67,000 a month. While that’s a significant increase over what Rochester paid the formerly nonprofit Frisbie, city officials say the deal is advantageous for Rochester because it’s cheaper than the estimated $2 million it would’ve cost the city to bring EMS in house.

Rochester NH considers fining landlords for tenants' behavior

ROCHESTER City councilors have asked police officials and the city’s Police Commission to revisit potential ways to address repeated disturbances in local neighborhoods, doing so after pushback that a new potential ordinance would impose fines on landlords for complaints about their tenants’ behavior. Councilors and landlords have recently expressed concern about unintended consequences the proposed ordinance could have for landlords and the Lilac City’s housing market. Meanwhile, proponents of stricter enforcement, including one city councilor, say the issue must be addressed in some way. “Let’s get the conversation going and see what we can do,” said Don Hamann, one of the city councilors who believes more discussion is needed even though he opposes the draft ordinance. “It never hurts to discuss.”
