cnn s larry mado joins us with more. niger s military coup leaders still defiant in the face of the deadline to restore the ougsed president? reporter: that s right, laila. they insist that they will defend themselves if this group of countries decide to militarily intervene as they promised they would do in a week if president bazoum is not reinstated. the chiefs of defense of the bloc met in the niger capital for three days. they finished by saying they re ready, they ve decided the logistics and the timing, the when, where, and how they would militarily intervene if it came to it. but that will be a last resort. they re hoping there s a path for dialogue. the only support that the nigerien military junta have is their neighbors, burkina faso, said any military intervention in my knowledger would be
