From the beginning of 2027 to the end of 2034, Statkraft will supply green electricity from hydropower directly to Deutsche Bahn from its two run-of-river power plants in Langwedel and Landesbergen in Lower Saxony, Germany. Russia should intensify the development of “green” hydrogen technologies, considers Germany, as the two countries have great potential for co-operation here. The existing infrastructure for natural gas transportation can be adapted to ship hydrogen, which is more environment-friendly than gas.
