The Madison County Health Department held vaccination clinics Saturday and Sunday at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey. The health department also is planning vaccinations at LaMay’s Catering in Alton on Monday and the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville on Monday and Tuesday. ALTON The Madison County Health Department provided COVID-19 vaccinations to 350 residents Monday at LaMay’s Catering, 909 E. Broadway. “It is so gratifying to know that 350 of our residents received their first vaccine shot today,” said Pastor David Goins. “And it is equally satisfying that another 200 individuals are already registered for Monday, March 8.” Participants for the March 8 vaccinations will be contacted March 4-5 and assigned an appointment time. Three additional phone lines have been added to accommodate the heavy call volume for vaccine registration: 618-491-9340, 618-491-9920 and 618-491-0021. The phone lines will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday of each week through Wednesday, March 17.

Starting Tuesday, Feb. 23, the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville will be used by the Madison County Health Department to administer as many as 1,350 vaccinations a day. Six organizations also will partner with the health department to offer weekly COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Alton during March. “We are happy to partner with the Illinois National Guard and community partners throughout the county to increase our capacity to administer vaccines in Madison County, especially to our vulnerable populations,” said Toni Corona, Director of Public Health, Madison County Health Department.
