I just happened to be visiting, and i didnt really know what to how to dress when i was coming out here from new york. So im wearing tweed [laughter] so im going to take it off. I just wanted you to see that i do, in fact, have a jacket. [laughter] i, i love history, and i have for a long time. I studied history in school, in graduate school. And what had always appealed to me as a historian was strong stories. And so my first book was a biography of alfred e. Smith, the first catholic to run for president , a poor boy who became the great reforming governor of new york and then would have been a great president , but he got wiped out by herbert hoover. And i love that story. I spent 20 years writing it, and i decided when it was do ....
Reforming the u. S. Criminal justice system. That includes his administrations move to shorten prison sentences for drug crimes. Now, the result is last year more than 6,000 inmates were released from prison early, and tens of thousands more may get out. Not all go home. About a third of the first 6,000 inmates whose sentences got shortened are not american citizens, and because of that, some released inmates were deported while others are now sitting in detention facilities while they await deportation hearings. The result is a messy collision of americas imperfect Immigration Laws with its changing criminal law, and thats turning what might have been joyous reunions for some immigrant families into a reality that is far more bittersweet. We have the story of one such family whose newly free father cannot live in the same country as his son, who is a u. S. Marine. A lot of my friends never knew this side of me. It was always us. ....
Involving two police units left one on its side. It happened on surfside way not far from john young parkway. Thats where we find news 6 Johnny Fernandez at the scene. You got an update from police a while ago. Thats right, bridgett. I did speak with a lieutenant with Orlando Police and he tells me that the officers involved in the crash, they were on the way to other officers conducting a traffic stop. Both officers are expected to be ok this morning. Now, i want to show you video from when we got to the scene moments after the cleanup process started. We know the two officers ended up crashed into each other. The s. U. V. Somehow ended up flipped on its side. A lieutenant said one of the officers had minor injuries and the whole thing played out.
