Drying up our water sources. look at lake orville in northern california. the satellite image on the left was taken two years ago. this is lake immediate, largest water reservoir in the country, 25 million americans rely on this for water. it is the lowest level since the 1930s. allison chinchar joins me. how much of the country is being impacted by extreme weather? it is scorching lot in the southwest. absolutely. you look at the western third of the country, you re talking about nearly 90% of this region in some level of drought. now you start to factor in the intense heat that goes with it, it is not a good combination. this is out of death valley. 130 degrees fahrenheit. set a daily record there yesterday. in total we had over 40 places set heat records just on friday alone.
