The newly-elected members of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) in Kargil have taken oath, with Dr Jaffar Akhone proposed as the chief executive councillor. The National Conference and Congress formed the council after winning 22 seats out of 26. The two parties have formed an agenda of alliance to work together for the betterment of the people of Kargil. ​​The NC and Congress had entered into a pre and post poll alliance in Kargil and formed the council after winning 22 seats - 12 by NC and 10 by Congress - out of the 26 seats.
