Two outdoor gyms promised to communities in Duncan Village a year ago are yet to operate and residents are concerned about the damage being done to them.
The city is demanding the payment of outstanding rates and services bills, but has no intention of telling ratepayers which councillors and staff members owe it money.Last week, the Daily Dispatch reported that BCM employees and councillors owe the city R12.8m.
Isolomzi Crime Watch has expanded to new areas of Duncan Village, under the leadership of former criminal Zola Tokota, 52, who went from robbing cars to returning stolen goods. “I was a gangster from prison, but now I catch criminals,” Tokota said. Duncan Village Crime Forum founder and 2021 Daily Dispatch Local Hero winner Ludumo Saliman said Tokota was one of the first men to work with him in the Gompo Forum operation.
