Emmy a state audit results showed that people were getting money claiming that they worked for businesses that did not exist. It showed that the Iowa Workforce development were overpaying hundreds of people because of a phone malfunction and did not collect penalties for two years from 2012 to 2015. The investigation brought forth an email sent out from a workforce manager, who asked staff to blame the improper payments on technical errors.
