The summer months are just around the corner, and with the vaccine rollout in mid-swing, folks will be able to cool off next to a public pool following coronavirus restrictions and guidelines, of course.
But despite loosening COVID-19 restrictions, some public pools are feeling the pandemic pinch as shortages of lifeguards and staff cause some pools to consider cutting operation hours.
This is especially true for Loudonville Public Swimming Pool, which will open June 3 with limited hours and days, said Tom Young, the Village Council s Parks and Pool Committee chair. Like many other operations in the current economy, we are having difficulty filling our staff, Young told Loudonville Village Council Monday.
