The management of the Sowore Foundation has thanked all the participants and its supporters for their contribution towards ensuring that its annual programme turned out a success in 2024. The foundation stated this in a release on Saturday by Omoyele Sowore, Chairman of the Foundation, while noting that the foundation was grateful for the collective and selfless efforts contributed throughout the events of the annual programme.
Sowore Foundation, a scholarship scheme named after the late father of human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 and 2023 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, will on January 1, 2024, hold its annual scholarship awards programme and events. The annual event, named Sowore Scholarship Foundation, was established in memory of the human rights activist’s father who died in 2005. The 2023 edition had taken place at the Methodist Primary School, Kiribo in the Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Tope Temokun, counsel for human rights activist and candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections, Omoyele Sowore, has challenged the Palace of Deji of Akure’s revocation of approval a town hall at the Akure Hall on Saturday. The hall had been booked by Sowore and the civil society organisation Take-It-Back Movement for a town hall meeting to demand that the ailing Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu should either resume work in his office or resign.
Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has been asked to account for the 13 per cent Oil Derivation Fund that accrued to the state from the Federation Account since the inception of his administration. Honourable Victor Kolade Akinjo, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, called out the governor on Friday, pointing out the recent oil refund released to nine Niger Delta states by President Muhammadu Buhari's administration between 2021 and 2022.
