And of course im going talk bout Hurricane Harvey. On august 26, texans across the state braced themselves for Hurricane Harvey. It was a quick hurricane in that it was developed very quickly in the gulf of mexico. Texas, it southeast near corpus christi, in rockport. And did considerable damage in rockport. I understand from congressman farenthold that represents the area that the entire small town was just obliterated by Hurricane Harvey. Thats right on the coast of texas. Hurricane harvey made its way up the coast toward houston. Riding the coast and the gulf of mexico. When it got to houston, texas, it slowed down to some extent. And for five days it rained. It rained all day and all night. And the flood waters rose in the houstonHarris County area. All told, we got about 50 inches of rain in those five d

I first want to express our heart felt sorrow for the millions of americans impacted by these devastating storms and say all members of this committee on both sides of the aisle stand with those affected by the hurricanes. Burgess, both members of the subcommittee who each recently visited puerto rico to assess the impact the hurricanes have had and continue to have on our fellow americans. This committee has been conducting oversight of the federal response to the recent hurricanes since shortly after harvey made landfall in texas. Americans we mourn with gold star families, but we cannot feel their pain. Theres nothing anyone can say or do to really comfort families suffering the loss of a loved one, but there is a lot people can say or do to cause grieving families additional pain as weve seen over this past week. As members of congress we are there for our constituents. They are our family. It is our obligation to speak up when they are hurt. The loss of an American Service member should be should not be politicized. Our Fallen Heroes should be honored. Sergeant la David Johnson is an american hero. Hospital and expected to be okay. Police are still looking for the suspect. Councilman oh has lived on the same street for years but Police Believe the attack was random. Rosemary connors joins us.
