Horry County Schools will mount a nationwide search for a new superintendent, after accepting the resignation of current Superintendent Dr. Rick Maxey on Monday, April 29. The board also heard a request from the Horry County Education Association, an organization comprised of district educators, to meet with the superintendent, HCS Human Resources reps and board members to discuss employment contracts.
Some Horry County Schools teachers contend their contracts are too vague. To make a point, they are waiting until the state s deadline to sign the agreements.
Teachers, staff and those dropping off students have been forced to take one way in to Kingston Elementary School this school year thanks to a bridge closure on Highway 472 in the Conway SC area. Some have complained about the campus safety, vehicle damage and traffic.
