Burundi wants to improve its exchange with its citizens abroad

Burundians who live abroad contribute to the development of their home country. They send money to their families and finance the construction of important infrastructure like hospitals, schools and hotels. There is no record, however, of how large this cash flow actually is. People from Burundi live everywhere in the world. Popular emigration destinations include, for example, Canada, Australia and Belgium. Many also stay on the African continent: for instance, a large number of Burundians live in neighbouring Tanzania. Precisely how many live in any particular country is unknown, however.
