Rutgers early signing period analysis: Class of 2021 strengths, weaknesses, immediate-impact players | Hunt

The early signing period will end Saturday morning at 12 a.m., leaving just hours for teams to make last effort moves. Staffs are scouring the transfer portal like their jobs depend on it (because they do), taking advantage of these final hours to improve their respective rosters.
Rutgers has thus far signed 22 players to its 2021 class, ranked 41st in the country and 10th in the Big Ten per 247Sports, while Rivals.com has Rutgers’ class ranked 32nd nationally. But that doesn’t tell the story as this is a strong class full of players who should help immediately. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Rutgers gets more help along the defensive line before the period ends. Here are a few observations I’ve made about the early signing period thus far.

Rutgers signed 22 players on Wednesday from New Jersey, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland and Virginia. The class is ranked 40th in the country and 10th in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports.com, heading into the last two days of the signing period.
