Calvin coolidge took office in 1923 when he was Vice President and Warren Harding died so he served as the last little bit of Warren Hardings term and was elected to his own term in 1924 and so he came to south dakota in 1927 when a lot of people were speculative would he or would he not run for another term in 1928 and it was widely expected that he would but he came here in 1927 because he was looking for a place to escape the oppressive summer
