St. Peter s finishes two-year, $9M improvement on surgical suite

HELENA â St. Peterâs Health has completed a $9 million improvement on the surgical suite at the Regional Medical Center in Helena.
The two-year project expanded the hospitalâs six operating rooms. The rooms were outfitted with upgraded imaging systems, a new continuous disinfection system, and improved airflow.
âThe operating rooms are nice and big and bright and well-thought out in terms of the layout,â said Dr. Kerry Hale, an orthopedic surgeon and chair of St. Peterâs Healthâs Department of Surgery. âI think patients will notice just a very clean, high-technology space.â

An oncologist has sued St. Peterâs Health, its chief executive officer and several of its physicians for damages following his dismissal from the hospital, saying suspending his clinical privileges violated due process, was done without good cause and damaged his reputation.
Dr. Thomas Weiner filed his 26-page lawsuit Thursday in Montana s 1st Judicial Court in Lewis and Clark County, requesting the case be heard by a jury and seeking damages to be determined at the trial.
St. Peterâs Health officials said Friday they are reviewing the lawsuit. St. Peterâs denies any allegations of wrongdoing, they said. We have grave concerns regarding Dr. Weinerâs care and we are confident in the actions we took to protect our patients and the community. This matter is now in the hands of the judicial system.
