— The Henry County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the Bridges at Jodeco site to build the county’s new $22 million aquatic center on Tuesday.
The 160-acre residential and commercial mixed-use development is located at Interstate 75 and Jodeco Road.
The owner is donating a minimum of 8 acres and a maximum of 14 acres to build the center.
The facility will be built using Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax V monies and include a competition and therapy pool and an outdoor water park.
The BOC also voted to name the facility The O’Neal Edwards Aquatic Center after Global Impact Christian Ministries Pastor Spencer T. O’Neal and Eugene Edwards, former Henry County NAACP president. The outdoor playground and swimming pool area will be named after Kensley Grace Kirby who died in 2011. ....
