Kent County Council will receive over £2.4m to support the introduction of a low carbon heat network that will supply 110 homes and five non-residential buildings in the town of Maidstone.
The funding, which is being provided via the Heat Network Investment Project (HNIP), has been unveiled this month as part of national efforts to expand adoption of lower carbon district heat.
Kent County Council has taken the decision to introduce the Maidstone Heat Network following analysis of a range of different decarbonisation strategies by Laser Energy – an in-house utilities specialist owned by the council.
