A-T staff win ACP Clips and Clicks awards

Five Advance-Titan staff members earned national awards in the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) Clips and Clicks contest for fall 2023.  Anya Kelley, then news editor, earned second place for her editorial, “It’s time to support student free press,” while Kelley and Josh Lehner, then assistant news editor, earned third-place honors for their news article, “Staff.

A-T wins national awards in Atlanta

The UW Oshkosh Advance-Titan won four national awards during the College Media Association convention held in Atlanta, Georgia last week. Taking second place in the Pinnacle College Media Awards competition for Arts and Entertainment writing was Kelly Hueckman, currently the Advance-Titan’s managing editor, for her story, “UWO’s ‘Grease’ reclaims the stage.” The award was given.

Students smash body norms

Just outside of Reeve, students gathered to take turns cladding themselves in safety goggles, a “Smash the patriarchy” hard helmet and a sledgehammer to shatter scales on Tuesday.  In honor of Mental Health Day, UW Oshkosh’s Women’s Advocacy Counsel (WAC) hosted WAC-a-scale, where they invited students to “smash” scales and beauty norms with a sledgehammer..

UWO Faculty Senate calls for action, endorses list of expectations

The UW Oshkosh Faculty Senate voted to endorse a document of expectations for Chancellor Andrew Leavitt and Provost Edwin Martini that is circulating campus.  The vote was not on the meeting agenda, but the Faculty Senate passed a motion to elevate it to an action item at their late Tuesday afternoon meeting.
