the alameda county sheriff s department is investigating. reaction is mostly positive to donald sterling s lifetime ban from the nba. the ban is in response to the racist comments made by the l.a. clippers owner. kpix 5 s christin ayers reports. reporter: in an afternoon press conference commissioner adam silver threw the book at sterling. effective immediately, i am banning mr. sterling for life from any association with the clippers organization or the nba. reporter: that means sterling will never be allowed to appear at any nba game or practice again or make business or personnel decisions for the clippers. he will have to pay a $2.5 million fine and silver went a step further. i will urge the board of governors to exercise its authority to force a sale of the team. reporter: an unprecedented punishment for a string of racist remarks that the nba says sterling has admitted he made in a taped conversation to his ex-girlfriend. in the recording, sterling admonish
