The Scarborough Land Trust and partnering groups will receive $1.4 million for projects and planning to protect the marsh from the impacts of climate change.
The Town Council agrees to fund up to 78% of the $270,000 cost of the parcel, which connects to more than 700 other acres of preserved land on the west side of town.
The town council has unanimously approved the resolution in support of the campaign to conserve at least 30 percent of the town's land and water by 2030.
