NEW BOSTON Discussions on upgrading Millbrook Park took place on Tuesday during a Village of New Boston Council meeting with all members of council present.
Mayor Junior Williams was not in attendance at the meeting which led to President Pro Tem Dan Fetty presiding over the meeting. The playground at Millbrook park was the main topic of the evening with discussions on upgrading and working with local schools.
Councilman Fetty stated that the New Boston Schools were going to contribute funds to go with the council to make it possible to have a bigger and better playground, as the New Boston Elementary students use the playground for recess and other playtimes. Water, trash and legal issues at New Boston
NEW BOSTON Flooding was on several council members’ minds at the Village of New Boston Council meeting.
Members of the council met Tuesday for their regularly scheduled meeting and discussed the potential flooding threats due to the snow and ice melting and rain that occurred earlier within the past week.
“We got all the pumps running,” Village of New Boston Mayor Junior Williams said. “We have had an electric issue, we have had to get a large generator out of Ashland, Kentucky. We lost some power to some pumps, but they are all working now.”

NEW BOSTON The New Boston Village Council has named an interim Police Chief, as independent investigators investigate employee complaints against New Boston Police Chief Steve Goins.
Following two special meetings held in February, The New Boston Village Council held its first regular meeting Tuesday, naming an interim chief and welcoming a new police officer and firefighter to the departments.
New Boston Mayor Jr. Williams appointed Jacob Emnett as Interim Police Chief. The mayor clarified that Emnett is a senior officer and has the knowledge it takes to carry on as interim chief while an investigation took place on Police Chief Goins. Councilman Jon Mills said he wanted to make a motion to employ an independent counsel to investigate pending allegations against the Chief of Police as well as the current investigation of what is going on with the Vonald Patrick incident.

NEW BOSTON The New Boston Police Chief Steve Goins has been placed on administrative leave after the city received employee complaints against him.
The New Boston Village Council held a special meeting Monday to discuss personnel issues and to hire an independent counsel to investigate two incidents involving the city. The meeting was live streamed on their Facebook page for the public to view.
New Boston’s Patrick resigns amid controversy

NEW BOSTON The New Boston Village Council met for their regular second meeting in January, even though it was business as usual, there was a shadow over the meeting and on the minds of some of the folks in the Zoom meeting and the public as well.
Village Councilman Vonald Patrick was involved in two crashes Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, in which an OVI (Operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs) was involved.
The incident was first brought up during Mayor Jr. Williams’ report, and a letter of resignation from the New Boston Village Council submitted by Patrick. The mayor stated that the Village Solicitor Justin Blume and Patrick had made an agreement that Patrick plans to plead no contest on the OVI charges.
