The Bayonne City Council has awarded a $4,094,712.50 garbage collection contract to A + L Disposal LLC that will run until 2023. Previously, A + L Disposal was awarded an emergency contract in January, pending a full-time contract. The city can extend the contract for two more years, bringing the total to $7,670,482.50 over four years. COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts to expand

× OEM Coordinator Junior Ferrante gave the weekly COVID-19 video update on March 4. Bayonne is readying for an expansion of its COVID-19 vaccination efforts, according to Bayonne Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Coordinator Junior Ferrante. The city has been vaccinating eligible residents since the first doses of the Moderna vaccine were distributed to hospital personnel at Bayonne Medical Center last December. According to Ferrante, the city had been receiving only enough doses to vaccinate around 100 residents per day. That number has increased recently as the city’s supply has expanded. “With the recent modest increases in our dosage allotments, we are now scheduling approximately 120 residents per day,” Ferrante said. As of last week, Ferrante said the city had vaccinated approximately 6,000 residents.

Snow predications are up to 18 inches, and here's what Hudson County is doing to prepare for it

Snow predications are up to 18 inches, and here’s what Hudson County is doing to prepare for it Updated Jan 31, 2021; It’s been over a month since winter storm Gail blanketed Hudson County, and though the snow didn’t cause much destruction, the county is still bracing for the worst. As of early Sunday, weather experts now predict that the pending storm can leave behind 12 to 18 inches of snow by the time it ends on Tuesday. Hudson County municipalities spent the weekend salting roads, prepping salt trucks and setting up warming centers to gear up against winter storm Orlena. In Jersey City, crews have been brining roads with salt all weekend, city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said. The city’s Department of Public Work’s Snow Operations will be staffed and actively monitoring the snowstorm.
