Ties to russia. Is the campaign on the defensive . The transition, i should say . Reporter theyre on the defensive, katy, but theyre also digging in. First to the tillerson flap backlash that we are seeing. Look, theyre bracing for a fierce fight in that Senate Confirmation hearing. They know theyre going to get one, but they feel confident, they say, that ultimately he will be confirmed. And youve started to see them really lay out the case for tillerson over the weekend. The president elect himself saying that tillerson is a dealmaker. Someone whos done deals internationally, all across the world. Trying to paint the fact that he has these ties to russia as a positive. Which, of course, runs counter to so much of the policy that weve seen promoted by republicans. Its a real sea change to try to have a secretary of state that has these close ties to russia. So they know theyre going to get a fight. But as you know better than anybody, katy, when the president elect digs in, he doesnt
their interests above his own. but he has canceled that news conference for reasons that we are not entirely clear of, so we don t know exactly how donald trump plans to do it yet. joining me now to break it down, find out what s going on, kristen tate, a conservative columnist and julien epstein, ceo of law media group. kristen, first question to you. why is donald trump not coming out tomorrow as he had planned to ensure that he is going to be able to put the public s interests above his own? first of all, there s actually no law that says donald trump there s no law. but he should, he should, and he will. he says he ll address this in january in a press conference then. i mean, right now he s busy staffing his cabinet. he s meeting with kanye west. that, too. we don t know why. trump is putting together an all-star is that more important? we don t know what that meeting is about. trump is putting together an all-star cabinet of conservatives and also doing
minus arthel. i move on. growing trouble for president obama. his signature health care law creating a lot of backlash. his approval ratings are at record lows. listen to what he said during an interview with abc. i ve gone up and down pretty consistently throughout. the good thing about when you re down is usually you got nowhere to go but up. president kind of joking there with barbara walters. democrats also apparently taking a big hit. a new poll suggesting they are losing their midterm edge. dramatic turnaround from just a few weeks ago. republicans now holding the 49 to 47% edge. let s bring in our political panel. our fox news contributor and director of outreach freedom works. and julien epstein, attorney and democratic strategist. good to see both of you. so what can the dems do to distance themselves from the president and his current tainted reputation that goes up and down of course?
of the relaunch of health care.gov as it goes forward. the man heading up the fixes said earlier this week today, deadline today, quote, there could be moments in the middle of the day seems to be the peak where capacity goes beyond that current user level, at which point there will be a customer friendly queueing system, which will notify you when to come back to the site. he says by today 50,000 people should be able to use the website at the same time. and that the website should be able to handle, in total, 800,000 day. overnight the scheduled hours of maintenance on the site turned into 11 hours of maintenance. something republicans noted today when talking about the website s relaunch. the expectation is for about 80% of those that go to the website, that it should work. you got to look at the fact that they did take it down, again, for another 11 hours. i understand this morning it is sporadic as to whether it is working or not working. when people are logging on.
record for taking her time. for making sure she has her facts in order before she brings charges. and i believe that s the case here. you know, the fact of the matter is, he s not worthy of guilty degree murder. he didn t wake up that night planning to shoot anybody. but certainly he has a duty of care. he had a duty of care that night for the person standing on his front porch. did he feel like he was in imminent harm? did he have a reasonable thought about that? clearly, this woman was a greater distance away from him than most people believed, that he shot her through a locked screen door. did he have a duty to close that second door and call the police first? i think that the prosecutors are saying that, in fact, he did. that he was not in danger of great harm, and thus, you re seeing these charges of second degree murder. julian, do you think that finding a high level of alcohol in renisha mcbride s blood makes her death anymore justifiable? no, i think it will be irrelevant.
