James Biernat, who was appointed to the bench in 2011, was first named chief judge in 2015 after John Foster retired. Biernat also serves as chief judge of Macomb Probate Court and both divisions of the county court, 42nd District Court, in Romeo and New Baltimore.
“These serious charges serve as a stark reminder that even at family gatherings, gun violence can forever alter lives," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
