A barber shop and used car lot were fronts for a large-scale North Jersey drug trafficking ring, said authorities who seized nearly 21 pounds of fentanyl, 7½ pounds of cocaine, a loaded gun and more while arresting 20 people in Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties.
Nearly two dozen locations in New Jersey and New York were raided and nearly four pounds of meth, more than a pound and a half of fentanyl and $118,395 in cash were seized by a team headed by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Narcotics Task Force working with federal Homeland Security Investigations and the NYPD, they said Wednesday.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and the New York Police Department, along with many other law enforcement partners, arrested 20 people, recovered $1 million worth of drugs, and $118,395 in cash as part of a massive bust.

In addition to the arrests, officers seized more than 9,400 grams of fentanyl, more than 3,400 grams of cocaine, more than 1,700 grams of methamphetamine, more than 800 grams of fentanyl pills, approximately 8 grams of heroin, and a loaded firearm, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
The operation’s ring leader and a major supplier of cocaine, fentanyl and heroin in Northern New Jersey – Juan Tejada of Union City – has been charged along with his intricate web of nearly two dozen associates.
