joanne? reporter: good evening, dawn, joyce. good evening everyone. we are at the the scene of the fire and tonight there are very heavy hearts in the philadelphia fire department and here in this neighborhood. let s get right to the video of this deadly fire on colorado street in north philadelphia. this is where the fire broke out at a row home on this one-way street before 9:00 this morning. and this is where lieutenant matt la turneau was trapped and died from his injuries after a structural collapse inside the building. the photo credit of lieutenant will he torn know from facebook. the fire went to a second alarm and firefighters did their very best in this frigid cold weather to try to put out the fire and keep it from spreading to neighboring homes. before we start, i just want to say if anyone still doesn t have fios, please stay out of the way so your lag the resident of the home also doesn t get us all killed, ben. died and two others were rushed what s so good a
for the day. but let s take a look at video we got for you little earlier today. we re told off duty officer saw a man on the street, holding up another man, at gunpoint, that was here along park avenue. now, witnesses say that man, the robbery victim, was an elderly gentleman. and we re told the off duty officer stepped in, we re told he identified himself as a police officer, and told the suspect to drop his weapon. but, instead, police say the suspect pointed his handgun at the officer. now, we re told the officer then fired at the suspect, it is not clear yet, if the suspect shot back at the officer. but we do know that that suspect was hit in the abdomen. and then he ran down park avenue, he turned the corner onto chew, and he headed all the way up toward broad street. but he collapsed just before getting to broad street in front after boost mobile store. we re told the officer held him there at gunpoint until back up arrived. we spoke with police and also spoke with wit
with a box cutter. here is what happened next. this is video, taken by a bystander who saw it all in full. he said several good samaritans saw what was happening to this woman. they stepped in, they pushed the suspect into a snow bank, despite, they say, he was armed with a box cutter, and the good samaritan held him there in the snow bank until police were able to arrive. now, we spoke with ron roberts, who was a bystander, who captured all of this on video, as he was just headed into work, at the shoprite here. here s what he told bus that chaotic scene. they were yelling, what do you have, do you have a knife? do you have a gun? and he wasn t really answering them, then he eventually kicked out a knife from his pocket. isn t it a great job? isn t a great job not killing him after punching a woman in the face, so it is good job keeping their cool about that. and ron says the police were able to get here pretty fast, now, police say, they do have the suspect, of cour
