Texans are leading the nation in the number of arrests for storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6
as supporters of former President Donald Trump violently disrupted a joint session of Congress convened to certify President Joe Biden’s election.
Months later, the U.S. Department of Justice is still investigating and arresting accused rioters, including Adam Weibling, a Katy area man the FBI arrested on Tuesday.
Congress may launch its own independent investigation
into the insurrection through a 9/11-style, bipartisan commission, though the measure s prospects in the Senate appear dim.

A fourth Houstonian was arrested Friday for allegedly storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 during the insurrection led by supporters of former president Donald Trump, the FBI said.
Shane Jenkins, of Northwest Houston, was picked up at his home Friday morning after a tip led the FBI to several publicly available videos appearing to show the man smashing a U.S. Capitol window with the metal survival hatchet and throwing a flagpole and a metal pipe at federal officers, according to court documents.

A third Houston-area resident has been arrested and charged in connection with the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
The FBI announced that bakery owner Wilmar Jeovanny Montano Alvarado was arrested, the Houston Chronicle s Anna Bauman reports. Alvarado is charged with violent entry or disorderly conduct; entering a restricted building or grounds; civil disorder; assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers or employees; and obstruction of an official proceeding.
